• L2L: From Lemmatizers to Linkers

  Home Progetti Finanziatori internazionali L2L: From Lemmatizers to Linkers. L2L: From Lemmatizers to Linkers Milano, 2022 - 2023 The goal of the L2L project is to create a new CLARIN Resource Family of interoperable resources based on the Linguistic Linked Open Data paradigm. To this end, existing LOD-capable resources already integrated in CLARIN are reviewed, and the model of the “ LiLa-Linking Latin ” project ( http://lila-erc.eu ) is expanded. The first step of L2L will be to list all the LOD-compliant resources available within CLARIN’s VLO and Switchboard that satisfy at least the first 4 points in Berners-Lee’s 5-star classification and are potentially ready to be included in the Resource Family. Step two is to integrate into the CLARIN Switchboard the LiLa’s Text Linker, a lemmatizer of Latin that generates RDF output where tokens are linked to the LiLa’s lemma collection. Finally, an extension of the LiLa model for a sample language (Italian) will be tested, using only CLARIN’s resources. At the end of L2L, the creation of a CLARIN Knowledge Center dedicated to interoperable, LLOD-compliant language resources will be promoted.

  Home Projects University Working Out of Poverty: accompanying the poor to become dignified agents of their development. The affirmation of the centrality of human work in the social issue, which belongs to the Christian tradition, has a profound value that transcends space and time; therefore this research proposal, that dares to cover different geographical areas and times, is justified. The activities of the research group include a transdisciplinary dialogue that intersects with the fundamental empirical research activity on different case studies. The case study methodology is characterized by the tension towards transdisciplinary and by the adoption of a multi-instrument approach with the use of analysis techniques such as mixed quali-quantitative methods (in particular, qualitative analysis of interviews and quantitative textual analysis), impact analysis, field experiments, behavioural economics.

  Home Projects University Combating Poverty: Empirical Research in Support of Public Policies. These aims will be pursued by making the best use of the resources and skills present within the project's research team. In addition to economic skills (which in turn refer to a range of specializations), the team of researchers combines a wide range of skills in a multidisciplinary key, from legal skills, to sociological and demographic skills, to psycho-pedagogical skills. Moreover, the team is enriched by the presence of external researchers of the highest profile. First of all, the steering committee, which includes some of the world's leading experts on relevant issues. This is flanked in a more operational capacity by researchers from international institutions (in particular the World Bank and OECD) who are active in the development of anti-poverty and anti-discrimination policies. A further distinguishing feature is the significant presence of national and international funding outside the project, which substantially enhances its operational capacity, internationalisation and impact on public policies.

Socio-Economic Effects of Migration (ESEM): Counterfactual Analysis and Integration Policies Milan, 2017 - 2021 The project is articulated in six "work packages" (WPs), with the common objective of understanding how the migration phenomenon is associated with a generation or dispersion of value in the destination country. The second WP focuses on inequalities in terms of access to health services; the effect on migrants' health and possible consequences. Available data sources such as the ISTAT (The Italian National Institute of Statistics) Survey on the condition and social integration of foreign citizens will be used, but also administrative sources provided by the Ministry of Health The third WP will focus on intervention models in the school environment. The effects of immigration and entrepreneurship of migrants on business productivity and innovation, the role of immigration in the geographical spread of trade shocks and in the determination of new consumption patterns in the countries hosting migrants will be analysed. A theoretical analysis will be developed that extends the classic result of "marginal deterrence" in a context where criminals are mobile and migration flows are determined by the relative severity of sanctions in different countries and the relative profitability of crime in each of them. Human-Robot Confluence: towards a multimodal analysis of human-robot interactions Milan, 2018 - 2021 The social dynamics that are established with robots would be analysed on three levels: The proximal man-robot interaction: a first dimension of analysis concerns the interaction between man and robot in the context of a shared motor activity. New generation robots perceive the physical characteristics of the environment around them and negotiate the use of resources in that space with other objects, robots, or humans. One reason is undoubtedly related to physicality, and the tangibility of autonomous robots that act as catalysts for interaction and create that particular phenomenon whereby human beings tend to anthropomorphize robots. However, as highlighted by the "Uncanny valley" phenomenon, there remains a certain level of emotional discomfort in the interaction with robots that limits human involvement in the interaction, reducing the level of "presence" of robots. L'affermazione della centralità del lavoro umano nella questione sociale, propria della tradizione cristiana, ha un profondo valore che trascende spazio e tempo; si giustifica perciò questa proposta di ricerca che osa coprire aree geografiche e tempi diversi. Le attività del gruppo di ricerca prevedono un dialogo transdisciplinare che si interseca con l'attività fondamentale di ricerca empirica sui diversi studi di caso. La metodologia degli studi di caso si contraddistingue per la tensione alla transdisciplinarità e per l'adozione di un approccio multi-instrument con l'uso di tecniche di analisi quali metodi misti quali-quantitativi (in particolare, analisi qualitativa di interviste e quantative textual analysis), analisi d'impatto, field experiments, economia comportamentale.

• I Giovedì della Ricerca Europea: Exploring the Galaxy | edizione 2024-2025

  Il percorso è destinato ai docenti e ai ricercatori dell’Ateneo che intendono sviluppare la propria attività di ricerca in ambito internazionale. Obiettivo del percorso 2024 sarà quello di illustrare lo stato di avanzamento del Programma Horizon Europe e di approfondirne i principali ambiti d’intervento. Verranno presentate le opportunità di finanziamento e le misure attualmente disponibili a cui accedere tramite bandi competitivi. Inoltre, prediligendo un approccio di taglio pratico, saranno proposti strumenti operativi utili alla presentazione e alla gestione di un progetto di ricerca a valere su tali bandi, attivando esercitazioni e sessioni di auto-apprendimento . L'edizione di quest'anno si dividerà in tre parti, coprendo il periodo da settembre 2024 a giugno 2025: Prima parte (sett-nov 2024) : Tre incontri info-formativi di livello principiante («Livello Younglings»), medio («Livello Padawan») e avanzato («Livello Jedi»), per rispondere alle diverse esigenze della comunità accademica. Seconda parte (feb-mar 2025) : Tre laboratori formativi sulle tecniche di lettura dei bandi, predisposizione delle proposte e gestione del progetto finanziato. Terza parte (apr-giu 2025) : Incontri di approfondimento basati sugli interessi emersi dopo la prima sessione, raccolti attraverso i questionari di valutazione.
