Nella fattispecie: Onfoods, Modelli per un’alimentazione sostenibile - link al sito Il progetto PE10: “Modelli per un’alimentazione sostenibile”, (soggetto proponente Università degli Studi di Parma), dotato di un’agevolazione finanziaria complessiva di 114.500.000,00. In tale contesto, il nostro Ateneo referente scientifico Prof. Pier Sandro Cocconcelli , ha aderito, come socio fondatore, alla Fondazione di partecipazione denominata ONFOODS, costituita in data 20 settembre 2022, quale Hub per la gestione complessiva del progetto. L’Università Cattolica è inoltre operativa in tre dei sette spokes, occupandosi, rispettivamente: Nello Spoke 2 di smart and circular food system and distribution; Nello Spoke 3 di food safety of tradizional and novel foods; Nello Spoke 4 di food quality and nutrition.

In tale contesto, il nostro Ateneo referente scientifica, Prof.ssa Paola Battilani svolge la sua funzione di partner di ricerca nello Spoke 6 “Management models to promote sustainability and resilience of agricultural production systems”, del quale fa parte mediane la Facoltà di Scienze Agrarie, Alimentari e Ambientali. Più specificamente, le ricerche dell’Università Cattolica nel suddetto spoke 6 si occupano di: Modelli di gestione aziendale per migliorare la sostenibilità e la resilienza in diversi scenari agricoli. Valutazione e implementazione di soluzioni intelligenti e multifunzionali per ridurre gli input esterni e migliorare la produttività, la salute, la qualità e la sicurezza delle colture. Selezione e adattamento delle nuove tecnologie più promettenti per combinare l'upcycling dei rifiuti organici in nuovi modelli agricoli. Eco-pianificazione e progettazione di sistemi circolari che combinano diversi tipi di aziende agricole, aziende alimentari e mangimistiche con impianti di trasformazione dei rifiuti. Sviluppo/validazione dei sistemi circolari per la loro capacità di contrastare il cambiamento climatico, aumentare la bioeconomia e proteggere l'aria, l'acqua e il suolo e la qualità e la salute delle piante. Modelli di gestione per migliorare la connessione delle nuove soluzioni agricole ai sistemi industriali.
Centro Nazionale Bio-diversità
Il Centro si focalizza sul Mediterraneo (hotspot di biodiversità) e affronta sfide globali relative alla protezione e al ripristino degli ecosistemi marini, costieri e terrestri. In tale contesto, l’Università Cattolica referente scientifico, Prof. Edoardo Puglisi , in quanto partner di ricerca nello Spoke 4, interviene con un gruppo multidisciplinare afferente alla Facoltà di Scienze Agrarie, Alimentari e Ambientali e alla Facoltà di Scienze Bancarie, Finanziarie e Assicurative. Nello specifico tale attività presidia i seguenti ambiti di ricerca: Analisi della biodiversità vegetale, animale e microbica mediante l’applicazione di metodologie genomiche, metagenomiche ed epigenomiche. Analisi di «firme di selezione» genomiche anche attraverso approcci di landscape genomics per l’identificazione di varianti alleliche di interesse per la resilienza ai cambiamenti climatici. Implementazione di nature based solutions per il recupero ecologico di suoli ed aree degradate. Isolamento di microorganismi con attività biostimolante e/o di degradazione di inquinanti, loro utilizzo insieme a piante accumulatrici in attività di bonifica e restoration. Sviluppo di modelli economici per la valorizzazione della biodiversità e delle pratiche di C sequestration.

A partire dal progetto CreaAbility – che esplora l’accessibilità e l’inclusione come dimensioni della sostenibilità culturale – l’incontro vuole intrecciare sguardi e pratiche che, nel campo della moda e dell’impresa culturale, sperimentano modelli più equi, prossimi e sostenibili. L’artigianato viene ripensato non solo come sapere da tutelare, ma come risorsa politica e sociale per immaginare economie radicate nei territori e relazioni più giuste tra chi produce e chi consuma. TransatlanticLab Milano, 2026 - 2029 TransatlanticLab reexamines colonial and post-colonial interactions within the transatlantic space, using the Atlantic as a historical laboratory to explore colonial domination and racialist ideologies. The project focuses on how these dynamics, emerging from the plantation economy in the greater Caribbean, were maximised on both sides of the ocean. It rethinks colonial regimes, historicises European domination languages, and examinesintermediaries' rolesin maintaining colonial power. TransatlanticLab aims to surpass current decolonial theories and simplistic understandings of racism as merely a system of prejudiced morality that can be corrected through education. The hypothesis posits that racialism and racism evolved tied to the plantation economy, flourishing in the Americas and the Caribbean, and later used in European colonialism in Africa. Our argument is multifold: Colonialism roots in Africa and racism link to Americas' plantation systems. TransatlanticLab will provide new insights into the long-term transformations of the tools of imperialism and colonialism.
This downward spiral marked the fates of dozens of mystics and aspiring saints who lived in Italy in the first half of the twentieth century. Neglected today by the majority of the faithful, condemned by the ecclesiastical authorities and ignored by scholars, the memory of these figures risks falling into the haze of history and, with it, also the devotional practices and popular cults developed around them. Following this path means flattening research to the dominant narrative (vox cleri) and feeding the main historiographical mainstreams based on the top-down perspective (officially approved saints and politicised cults). The contested side of holiness ’ ( quasi-SANTE ) aims to go beyond the institutional and formal approach to the religion to focus on the popular and potentially contested dimension of holiness through the analysis of aspiring saints who, during their lifetime, attracted veneration and suspicion and catalysed public attention. Quasi-SANTE will develop scientific articles, international workshops, a database on contested holiness, social and multimedia content, and an exhibition aimed at the scientific community and a wider audience. EDiHTA Roma, 2024 - 2027 Digital health technologies (DHTs) are expected to improve both the quality and delivery of healthcare services for European societies while ensuring the sustainability of Europe`s healthcare systems. DHTs are also able to collect real-world data and evidence relevant for decision makers. However, the implementation of DHTs implies new methodological challenges to the standardisation of assessment criteria. EDiHTA will be the first flexible, inclusive, validated and ready-for-use European HTA framework reaching TRL 6-7, allowing the assessment of different DHTs (e.g. telemedicine, mApps, AI) at different TRLs, territorial levels (national, regional and local) and perspectives (e.g. payer, society, hospital). The digital framework will be piloted in real healthcare settings in 5 major European hospitals and through an open piloting scheme with European DHT developers. Next to leading academic groups in HTA research, our multidisciplinary consortium includes HTA agencies, clinics as DHT end-users, technology providers and a patient organisation with links to the broader European healthcare landscape of regulatory bodies, policymakers and payers. EDiHTA will leverage its network to accelerate the market entry of new DHTs for the benefit of European society.
Thera4Care Roma, 2024 - 2029 Thera4Care represents a large unique consortium, gathering well-established European academic radiotheranostic centres, strong industry partners, European and medical societies focusing on training and education, a patient advocacy group spearheaded by an experienced project management group. Thera4Care aims to establish a European network of radiotheranostics centres able to rapidly develop and implement radiotheranostics tools and solutions to drive precision health. The overarching vision of Thera4Care is to revolutionise radiotheranostics procedures by establishing, implementing, and disseminating standardised scalable methods to produce and efficiently administer key radiotheranostics solutions. Thera4Care focus is on developing diagnostic and therapeutic ligands tailored to key disease areas (such as solid tumours), aligning with the growing significance of multi-modal radiotheranostics solutions dominated by radionuclide-based therapy and companion diagnostics. WP1 handles Project Management, WP2 focuses on Regulatory aspects, WP3 plans Preclinical studies, WP4 provides Supply chain, WP5 develops Clinical Trials, WP6 generates AI models, WP7 focuses on Dosimetry, WP8 develops Precision Imaging components, while WP9 focuses on Education and Dissemination. EUVAC Roma, 2024 - 2027 The European Digital Vaccination Card (EUVAC) is crafted in MyHealth@EU services as a self-contained document, empowering individuals to monitor their vaccination histories. Operating as a technical exchange format or pivotal platform, the EUVAC streamlines the transfer of vaccination records across diverse information systems which is fundamental for the development of interoperable vaccination card functionalities by Member States. It allows citizens to effortlessly store and oversee their vaccination data, which they can then be presented to health professionals during in-person consultations. The European digital vaccination card (EUVAC) ensures the sustained continuity of care by being enduring over time and portable. This signifies that vaccination data can be shared, whether within local or remote, public or private repositories, moving seamlessly from one physical or virtual location to another. Crucially, this process is initiated and overseen by the citizens, granting them autonomy over their health information and ensuring the secure and effective management of vaccination records. EJNita Milano, 2019 - 2021 If we bear in mind that the European Judicial Network (EJN) is a network of national contact points, clearly each national network is a “link in the chain” which helps to make the network effective. At present, the Italian national network does not yet have an autonomous tool designed to communicate with other networks and with national users. The general objective of the project is to create a new digital tool for the Italian network to enhance the ability of the Italian national contact points to effectively perform their tasks , vis-à-vis both Italian authorities and practitioners, and members of the Network in other Member States. Increased knowledge, along with the predisposition of specific tools (such as databases and e-books) will facilitate (and speed-up) the handling of cases. The project will also provide an answer to the need of making Italian practices more accessible (in terms of knowledge) and available to foreign practitioners, for example with regard to the Italian practices in the taking of evidence.
EU CanScreen Roma, 2024 - 2028 The Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan has called for a new EU-Supported Cancer Screening Scheme to assure high performance of cancer screening programs across all the Member States (MS). The general objective of EUCanScreen is to assure sustainable implementation of high-quality screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer as well as implementation of the recently recommended screening programs – for lung, prostate and gastric cancers. The work-plan of EUCanScreen has been built on the results of previous and ongoing major EU activities in screening; it is designed within eleven closely interlinked work-packages. Popularitas Milano, 2018 - 2020 The Popularitas project aims to provide a comprehensive study of the precedents of populism in ancient Rome . The Latin adjective “popularis” had a passive meaning (the man who enjoys the favour of the people), but also an active one (the man who seeks the favour of the people). The Popularitas project will historicize for the first time a much-discussed political phenomenon of our time and highlight similarities (and differences) with the ancient political practice. It will provide the tools for a diachronic assessment of modern populism, opening new research prospects . Its ambition is not only to be useful to the historians of the ancient world, but also to offer to political scientists and sociologist some fresh material and a new starting point for a proper understanding of the phenomenon. Xt-EHR Roma, 2023 - 2026 The Xt-EHR joint action supports the Commission’s policy priority for “A Europe fit for the digital age” by implementing the EU4Health Programme’s general objective of “strengthening health systems”. More specifically, the Xt-EHR proposal will prepare implementation guides, technical specifications, and a conformity assessment framework for the adoption of the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF), at a European Level. Evaluate telemedicine, mobile health, and other health software in the context of the EEHRxF and the EHDS Regulation proposal. Evaluate common EHR requirements for electronic identification for health professionals and patients (based on the European Digital Identity framework), and the necessary metadata layer needed. Through Xt-EHR, the interoperability and cross-border exchange of different types of health data will be promoted by proposing the necessary implementation guidelines for the implementation of new services that will complement the MyHealth@EU initiative. VISTA Milano, 2025 - 2029 In an era marked by overlapping crises – spanning health, environmental, economic, and geopolitical domains – alongside rapid technological advances, societal values are experiencing unprecedented strain. Prolonged instability, driven by successive crises and profound social shifts, is reshaping citizens’ values, with significant implications for social cohesion and coexistence. In response, this Action aims to establish an interdisciplinary network to advance research on value orientations during periods of crisis and social transformation. Key objectives include: a) analyzing the multifaceted impact of societal crises on citizens’ values, b) contextualizing the role of generational shifts, c) exploring regional and cultural variations, d) identifying cross-cutting themes in value transformation, and e) examining how technological advancements influence these shifts. This collaborative effort will enhance our understanding of how societies navigate rapid social transformations and external pressures, particularly their effects on citizens’ value systems. ROMANI Milano, 2025 - 2027 Numerous studies and reports consistently highlight the high prevalence of gender-based violence (GBV) experienced by Roma women in Europe. This violence takes many forms, including domestic abuse, sexual harassment, forced marriages, trafficking, and other forms of exploitation. The intersectional discrimination they endure, along with health inequalities, limited access to services and support systems, and pervasive stereotypes among both Roma communities and health and social professionals, makes escaping GBV even more challenging. In response, the ROMANI project aims to combat GBV within Roma communities and ensuring equal access to healthcare through a comprehensive approach. This involves engaging Roma communities, promoting their empowerment, while also collaborating with relevant health, social, and anti-violence services and key stakeholders. The project will be implemented in Bulgaria, Italy, and Romania, where the situation for Roma women is particularly concerning. The ROMANI project adopts an interdisciplinary and participatory approach that actively involves Roma women.
